Fernandez – VP & GM @ Telemundo WSNS-TV In Chicago.

Eduardo (Ed) Fernandez has been named Vice President and General Manager for Telemundo’s WSNS, Channel 44 in Chicago. Ibra Morales, President, Telemundo TV Stations.

“Ed brings an extensive amount of broadcasting experience and community leadership. We’re excited to bring him and his family home to Chicago,” said Morales.

Fernandez has almost twenty-years of broadcast experience. He has been VP and General Manager of WXMI, FOX Channel 17 in Grand Rapids, Michigan since May 1999 where he was responsible for all station operations. He started at WXMI in 1989, as Local Sales Manager. He later moved to Director of Sales and Station Manager before being named the VP/General Manager in 1999. Fernandez started his media career in 1984, at WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids and held other sales positions at WZZM-TV (Grand Rapids) and WSB-TV in Atlanta.

Fernandez was recognized for his leadership and potential by the Robert R. McCormick Fellowship Initiative, awarded to high-level minority media executives. He is a member of the National Association of Minority Media Executives and was also named a “Forty Under Forty” by the Grand Rapids Business Journal.

He is the chairman of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. Fernandez is the Vice Chair Elect for the Boys Scouts of America. He is a board member for a variety of local community non-profit organizations including St. Mary Mercy Medical Center Doran Foundation Board and the Grand Rapids Children Museum Board.
