Foster Farms launches campaign to the Tune of Los Tucanes de Tijuana.

Foster Farms announced the return of the company’s popular Foster Imposters in a new advertising campaign developed specifically for the Latino community. The Foster Imposters are two out-of-state, junk food-eating chickens who, in their repeatedly failed attempts to impersonate Foster Farms chickens, highlight the superior qualities of the always fresh, always natural, locally-grown Foster Farms birds. The birds meet their match when they are heralded by hot Mexican recording artists, Los Tucanes de Tijuana.

The new commercial launches today with the 30-second television ad “Corrido” in which the popular Mexican band, Los Tucanes de Tijuana, sings a new version of one of their most popular corrido songs written especially for the Foster Imposter campaign. The new corrido describes the cross-country travels of the Foster Imposters to California in their attempt to become fresh Foster Farms chickens. The ad will be aired on major Spanish-language television stations throughout California, and will also be available for consumers to view online at www.FosterFarms.com.

“The Foster Imposters (Pollos Impostores) were so popular in the Latino community that consumers begged us to bring them back,” said Pete Hernandez, Assistant Marketing Manager for Foster Farms. “We wanted to announce their comeback in a big way and knew that with the help of Los Tucanes de Tijuana we could create an entertaining, informative campaign that the community would find to be culturally-relevant and appropriate.”

“The Foster Imposters (Pollos Impostores) corrido lets listeners know that there are differences between fresh Foster Farms chicken and the Imposters. The corrido mentions the Imposters eating junk food and traveling across the country to get to California. But true fresh Foster Farms chickens are locally-grown and fed a nutritious corn diet. They are always natural and contain no added hormones or steroids, no sodium enhancers, chemical preservatives or flavorings. Also, Foster Farms chickens are always fresh, never frozen then defrosted. We know that Latino consumers want premium quality, nutritious chicken to feed their families, and we are proud to offer them only the best from Foster Farms.”

Los Tucanes de Tijuana jumped at the chance to team up with Foster Farms. “We were excited to partner with Foster Farms, knowing that they are the brand of choice for our community and for our families,” said band leader Mario Quintero. “We want to support and align with companies that share our values and help support our community. Plus, we couldn’t resist the chance to help expose the Imposters, since we wouldn’t want them in our kitchens!”
