February 18, 2015
German Quiroga and Daniel Suarez, two of Mexico’s most recognized NASCAR drivers, join FOX Deportes for its third season of NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES racing, beginning with the DAYTONA 500 on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. ET. The announcement was made today by Carlos Sanchez, Executive Vice President and General Manager, FOX Deportes.
“Adding two key Mexican drivers to our coverage this season is extremely valuable for FOX Deportes,” said Sanchez. “We understand the importance of helping to increase awareness for the sport within the Hispanic community, and Quiroga and Suarez are names that will resonate with our audience.”
Quiroga joins the broadcast booth as an analyst alongside longtime FOX Deportes race announcer Tony Rivera and analyst Luis Rodriguez. Suarez serves as the host of the network’s first NASCAR Digital Series, which is set to premiere in time for the 2015 DAYTONA 500 and provide social and video content to audiences throughout the season.
Quiroga began his career in 1996 in the EL RETO NEON SERIES and won his first championship in 1998. In 2005, he won the FORMULA RENAULT 2000 Championship and in 2006 began racing in the NASCAR MEXICO SERIES, winning three consecutive championships (2009, 2010, 2011), a first in the history of the series. He made his debut in the NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES in 2011. In 2014, Quiroga finished sixth in the championship, becoming the first Hispanic driver in NASCAR history to reach this accomplishment.
Suarez made headlines in 2014 with five wins and seven top-five finishes in 15 starts in the NASCAR MEXICO SERIES. He looks to surpass the aforementioned accomplishments in 2015 competing full-time for the NASCAR XFINITY SERIES.
