Fox Sports en Español 2004 – 2005.

Addressing a standing-room only crowd at Noche restaurant, Fox Sports en Español General Manager David Sternberg and Senior Vice President of Advertising Sales Tom Maney attributed the network’s #1 position in sports programming for Spanish-language cable television to strong distribution growth and historic ratings success.

The network unveiled a Broadcast Year 2005 programming lineup featuring the return of its key live event properties: Torneo Interliga, Copa Toyota Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana and Major League Baseball’s 2004 playoffs and World Series. In addition, Fox Sports en Español announced the return of Premios Fox Sports, the successful original awards show that debuted in December 2003 and will again celebrate the achievements of top Latino athletes from the U.S. and Latin America.

“We are entering the new broadcast year with tremendous momentum,” said Sternberg. “We are excited to work with our advertising partners to reach even bigger Latino sports audiences with our core event franchises and original programs.”

“In Broadcast Year 2004, our big events elevated Fox Sports en Español to be the #1 sports provider in the Spanish-language cable TV marketplace,” added Maney. “In 2005, we look forward to continued great ratings as we showcase our clients’ brands using product integration, virtual signage and online platforms to deliver creative sponsorship opportunities.”

In addition to presenting its sports programming lineup, Fox Sports en Español announced a new partnership with Hispanic Internet leader Yahoo! en español to create a premier Spanish-language destination for sports fans. Jorge Consuerga, General Manager of Yahoo! en español who was in attendance, stated, “We are thrilled to team up with Fox Sports en Español, the largest provider of sports programming for the U.S. Hispanic community, to provide our users a truly innovative, in-depth and interactive online sports experience.”

Celebrities and network talent in attendance included Carlos Ponce, actor and recording artist; Alicia Machado, former Miss Universe 1997 and current actress and recording artist; Pablo Carillo, veteran Mexican sportscaster and host of the network’s show Palabra del Deporte; Catherine Fulop, actress and current host of Catherine 100%; and Maria Susini, co-host of Lo Mejor de Fox Sports.
