Fox Sports en Espanol kicks off 2009 with InterLiga ratings bonanza.

Fox Sports en Espanol kicked off the new year with a notable spike in ratings with the exclusive broadcast of the InterLiga tournament. The match on January 3 made ratings history for the network, when the two most dominant Mexican teams, Chivas of Guadalajara and Club America, confronted each other and engaged the largest gross audience delivery in the history of the network, with over one million viewers (persons 18 thru 49). The network peaked at 1.5 million viewers and reported a national rating of 3.25, seizing over 700,000 persons 18-49.

“We’ve clearly built consistent momentum over the past several weeks, culminating in our best Chivas vs. America ratings ever,” commented Tom Maney, senior vice president of advertising sales for the network. “We’re proud that people were drawn to us for the game, and stayed as a result of the quality of our commentators and coverage. Our full-service offering has built a loyal and expanding audience, from which our advertisers have benefitted greatly.”
