Fox Sports en Español Presents ‘Copa Colegial 2004’ @ Part of Carnaval Miami 8K Race.

Fox Sports en Español was the sponsor of the Copa Colegial 2004, in association with the PUBLIX Carnaval Miami 8K Run presented by Fox Sports en Español

As the race sponsor, Fox Sports en Español will present two checks in the amount of $1000 each to the winning boys and girls high school cross country teams from South Florida.

Approximately 1,500 runners will be participating in Friday’s race, which will also feature numerous activities and music for all ages to enjoy during the event.

“Special thanks to Fox Sports en Español for their continued support to the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, and we applaud their commitment to the Hispanic community of South Florida,” stated Eugenio Hernandez, President of the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana. The racecourse begins on SW 8th Street and SE 1st Avenue and continues up and back historic Calle Ocho finishing on SE 1st Avenue.

Susie Castillo, Miss USA, will once again join Fox Sports en Español in their efforts to show their commitment to the development of Latin youth in the Miami community.

“I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity this past year to work with Fox Sports en Español, a wonderful group consisting of hard-working and dedicated people,” said Castillo, who will give up her crown on April 12, 2004. “I am proud to take part in the Carnaval Miami 8K Run to help cheer on the youths in the Miami-Dade County community. I love being a champion of today’s young adults, and believe in the importance that they should ‘never give up their dreams,’ and events like this run help to make a dream become a reality!”

In December of 2003 in Miami, Miss Castillo served as a presenter at the inaugural Premios Fox Sports, which honored the excellence of U.S. Hispanics and Latin-American athletes in professional sports including soccer, boxing, tennis, basketball, golf, baseball and motor sports.

“We are very proud of being a part of the Carnaval Miami 8K Run and, through this project, supporting South Florida’s youth by sponsoring the Copa Colegial 2004,” says Raul de Quesada, Vice-President of Marketing, Communications and Special Services for Fox Sports en Español.
