Fox Sports World Español Bolsters Baseball Programming With Mexican Baseball League.

Fox Sports World Español announced that it will televise Mexican Baseball League games for the remainder of the 2001 season and the entire 2002 season, including post-season playoff and final matches.

Televised coverage of the 2001 playoffs, already in progress, will continue through next week. The network anticipates televising most of the 2002 Mexican Baseball League season that extends from March through August.

Sixteen teams are represented in the Mexican Baseball League including Los Tigres (2000 League Champions) and Los Diablos Rojos, both from Mexico City, who have qualified for the playoffs thus far.

Los Tigres head into the playoffs in first place with the aid of Luis Franco and his exceptional batting average of .438 with no intentions of surrendering the league title. Los Diablos Rojos pose a challenge to Los Tigres with the aid of Venezuelan batter Pedro Castellano who bats an impressive .355.

“Fox Sports World Español, with its year-round variety of sports programming, gives Latino sports fans a reason to subscribe to cable or satellite. The Mexican Baseball League complements our growing roster of baseball programming and adds depth to our existing sports line-up,” said Larry Gillman, general manager of Fox Sports World Español.
