Fundación Azteca America to increase Hispanic Higher Education

The National Hispanic Press Foundation [NHP Foundation] and Fundación Azteca America, in their continued commitment to assisting young Hispanics pursuing higher education, announced today their partnership to provide the 15th Annual Career and College Recruitment Fair of the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute with Scholarship Directory CD-Roms for its student participants.

NHP Foundation and Fundación Azteca America donated 1,300 CD-Roms for distribution at this year’s conference held in Chicago during USHLI’s 26th National Hispanic Leadership Conference.

The Scholarship Directory CD-Rom contains clear, up-to-date scholarship information and college entrance advice for today’s growing population of Hispanics headed toward higher education. In addition to being distributed at conferences, career fairs, and conventions, the CD-Roms are also mailed directly to organizations, colleges and individuals who request them free of charge. Over the past two years, the NHP Foundation has distributed more than 10,000 Scholarship Directory CD-Roms.

“Compiling information and sharing it with our community is what we do best as Hispanic publishers,” said Luis Rossi, NHP Foundation Vice Chairman. “We are proud to be able to support this effort by positively impacting thousands of students in the Midwest.”

According to USHLI, the mission of the conference continues to be to train a broad cross section of Hispanic leaders by promoting education and unity, providing opportunities for advanced leadership skills development, and creating a new generation of servant leaders based on the values of cultural pride, integrity, and empowerment.

“This conference is a great opportunity to have Latino role models and those organizations that support our efforts reach out to our youth by promoting education,” said Juan Andrade, USHLI President and Executive Director.

Aside from information on scholarship opportunities, NHP Foundation also offers information to prospective college students on services, organizations, high school preparation, college entrance test preparation, government loans and local scholarships that will help them secure their education.

The foundation’s online presence compliments its “Educate” print tabloid and its CD-Rom platforms. In partnership with Fundación Azteca America’s planned public service announcements set to air this spring, the NHP Foundation will add a broadcast platform to drive awareness.
