Futbol de Primera announced its lineup of on-air talent for the highly anticipated Copa America 2024 coverage. As fans across the Americas prepare for this premier soccer event, Futbol de Primera is committed to delivering comprehensive, insightful, and exciting commentary to enhance the listener experience.
This year’s broadcast team features a blend of seasoned professionals and fresh voices, ensuring a dynamic and engaging presentation of every match. The lineup includes:
- Andrés Cantor – Renowned for his passionate “¡Gooooool!” calls, Cantor is a legendary figure in soccer broadcasting. With decades of experience and multiple awards, including eight prestigious Emmys, and a place in the US Soccer Hall of Fame, Cantor brings unparalleled enthusiasm and expertise to the booth.
- Sammy Sadovnik – A trusted voice in sports journalism, Sadovnik has covered numerous international tournaments. His in-depth knowledge of the game and articulate analysis make him a favorite among listeners.
- Nicolas Cantor – Following in the footsteps of his father, Nicolas Cantor combines youthful energy with a deep understanding of soccer. His fresh perspectives and engaging style resonate with a broad audience.
- Jesús Eduardo Acosta – After calling two World Cups on Futbol de Primera, Jesús, a familiar voice among Hispanic listeners will be on play by play duties for his first Copa America with FDP.
- Carlos “Pibe” Valderrama- The iconic Colombian superstar who captained his country at the World Cups, is nicknamed FDP’s captain as he has worked four FIFA World Cups with FDP and multiple other tournaments
- Jorge Burruchaga – The former World Cup winner with Argentina in 1986 whi is also a coach brings firsthand experience and tactical knowledge to the commentary team. “Burru” did commentary for FDP in Qatar 2022 and during the last Concacaf Gold Cup.
- Steve Sampson- A Former US National Team coach who also coached Costa Rica and won the MLS double (MLS Cup + US Open Cup) with the LA Galaxy. He has been in FDP’s broadcast team since 2002.
- Tab Ramos- A US Soccer Hall of Famer who played in three World Cups and later coached USA U-20’s National Team in four consecutive World Cups, joins Futbol de Primera for the first time.
- Alex Aguinaga-Undoubtedly one of Ecuador’s finest players and a superstar in Mexico where he still resides after a successful club career, Aguinaga brings his coaching expertise to FDP’s airwaves for a third time.
- Mauricio “Chicho” Serna- A former Colombian World Cup and Copa America veteran, multiple champion at the club level, is respected for his deep understanding of the game and tactical insights, also returns to FDP’s broadcast team.
- Manuel Sol- A former Mexican international and an iconic figure for Chivas de Guadalajara, is one of the most respected voices in Hispanic TV and returns to FDP’s broadcast team.
- Futbol de Primera’s daily show contributors Rosa Sánchez, Jaime Gallardo, and Daniel Chapela will be part of match commentaries throughout the tournament, adding their in-depth knowledge of Argentina, Mexico and Venezuela’s National Teams.
FDP will also have extensive digital coverage including a traveling diary, behind the scenes and the expert opinion of its team of experts
