Galavisión last week shattered all previous audience levels as a record number of Hispanic sports fans tuned into the network’s exclusive coverage of the FIFA Under 17 World Soccer Championship tournament.

Held every two years, this popular international competition where the teenage soccer stars of the future compete on the world’s stage, scored big with Hispanic viewers and became the #1 sports event in the history of Galavisión and Spanish-language cable across all key demos. This year’s event delivered triple-digit increases vs. the 2003 tournament among Men 18-34 (+442%), Adults 18-34 (+350%), Men 18-49 (+368%), and Adults 18-49 (+264%).

The final match on October 2nd where Mexico captured the title over Brazil, was the #1 program on Spanish-language TV, cable or broadcast, in its time period and achieved impressive audience shares among Hispanic viewers including Men 18-34 (45 shr), Adults 18-34 (39 shr), Men 18-49 (43 shr), and Adults 18-49 (37 shr). In fact, on 4 out of 11 nights of the tournament, Galavisión ranked among the top 3 networks in all of Spanish-language TV. In addition, the final match on 10/2/05 and the semi-final game on 9/29/05 ranked as the highest rated programs of 2005 with Hispanic viewers in all of cable television, regardless of language.
