Galascene, the half-hour bilingual program introduced last season on Galavision draws record audiences prompting the network to order 22 new episodes for 2001.
Galascene provides quality and relevant entertainment and information for the young bilingual and bicultural urban Latino. Its focus is on what’s hot and happening in the Latino culture with an inspirational twist. Galascene’s goal is to keep Latino youth tuned in to the myriad of opportunities out there by showing them how other Latinos have achieved their success.
The show is unique because it is one of the few bilingual programs in the US targeting young urban Latinos. During its 2000 premier season, Galascene was one of the highest rated shows on Galavision. In fact, for its introductory year, Nielsen reported that it achieved a 1.3 for Hispanic persons 18-34 and a 2.4 for Hispanic Men 18-34. Not only did Galascene attain great ratings but it also outperformed its projections by 106% for Hispanic persons 18-34 and an amazing 287% for Hispanic Men 18-34. The show continued through its first year becoming the number one program for the network in New York and maintained its premier ratings in Miami and San Antonio.

Celebrities also felt the connection. Part of the program’s success was established with interviews with some of the biggest names in the entertainment business including: the last interview with Tito Puente, Jennifer Lopez, comedian and film star John Leguizamo, rapper Fat Joe, radio personality Angie Martinez, and the inside making of Showtime’s original series, Resurrection Blvd.
