Garcia-Marquez named Executive Producer of Levántate at Telemundo.

Telemundo Media announced it named Emmy Award-winning producer Mari Garcia-Marquez to Executive Producer, “Levántate,” Telemundo’s three-hour morning show that delivers a fresh dose of news, information and entertainment. Garcia-Marquez will report to Maria Lopez Alvarez, Senior Vice President of Alternative Programming and will be based in Miami.

Garcia-Marquez will lead the “Levántate” production team. In her new role, Garcia-Marquez will supervise all aspects of the creative content and production, including budget and staffing. She will be responsible for the overall strategic and operational oversight of the show, as well as oversee day-to-day operations of “Levántate.” Additionally, Garcia-Marquez will be responsible for producing special editions and for cross-promotion of the show.

“Mari is a veteran producer who brings immense talent and experience to Telemundo, and she is a valuable addition to the ‘Levántate’ team,” said Alvarez. “Her proven leadership skills and creative vision will help guide the growth and future development of one of the key programs on our schedule.”

Garcia-Marquez joined Telemundo Media in 2012 as a Project Manager responsible for the concept, development and production of the outstanding 10th anniversary celebration of “Al Rojo Vivo,” Telemundo Media’s news magazine program. Prior to this position, from 1997 to 2010, she was a Senior Executive Producer at Univision, where she spearheaded the creation and execution of their morning show, “Despierta America.”
