Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS), announced that Mr. Joseph García, the company’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer , will be honored by St. John’s University with the outstanding achievement medal of the university. Mr. Garcia received his Master’s Degree in 1977 from St. John’s. He was an active member of the student body during his academic career at St. John’s and has continued being an involved alumnus, participating in several programs since graduating.
Mr. Garcia will be recognized during a special event being held on June 8. The evening’s festivities will kick off at 5:30 PM with a cocktail reception and a dinner for the honorees in the Montgoris Dining Hall. The awards ceremony will begin at 8 PM and be held in St. Thomas More Church on campus.
This is not the first time Mr. García has been recognized for his outstanding accomplishments. Last September, Mr. García was granted the privilege of ringing the opening bell at the NASDAQ stock exchange in Times Square.
It is important to mention that Joseph García was one of the 14,000 Cuban children who came to the United States by Operation Peter Pan, under the protection of the Catholic Church who took care of the children until they were reunited with their families.
“We are truly proud to have Joseph García in the SBS family,” said Raul Alarcón, President of Spanish Broadcasting System. “This latest recognition speaks volumes about the man with whom I have worked for the past 23 years and it is truly well-deserved, as he is a man of incredible intelligence, professionalism and character.”
