Gil promoted to SVP & GM of Nielsen’s new Multicultural Growth and Strategy Team

Nielsen announced the promotion of Mónica Gil to Senior Vice President and General Manager of Nielsen’s new Multicultural Growth and Strategy team, effective immediately. Multicultural Growth and Strategy is a part of Nielsen’s External Affairs group and will drive business growth by providing market understanding and delivering comprehensive strategies to reach multicultural consumers.

“We are pleased to have Mónica lead this key effort in cultivating and measuring the evolving consumer strength of African-American, Asian American and Hispanic groups in the U.S.,” said Karen Kornbluh, Executive Vice President, External Affairs, Nielsen. “This new role underscores a business imperative for the company to help our clients understand and reach these important consumer segments in order to grow and succeed in a marketplace that is dynamically changing with rich diversity.”

Gil will be responsible for building cross-cultural competencies across Nielsen and its clients. She will focus on crafting innovative approaches to multicultural intelligence that will yield actionable solutions for clients and industry forums. She will also oversee the continued development of Nielsen’s Diverse Intelligence Series, a sequence of reports that provide marketers a closer look at today’s increasingly multicultural population. The series features in-depth insights into lifestyle, media and purchase behaviors of ethnic segments and has become an industry staple, helping brands delve deeper into additional facets of multicultural consumer behavior.

Gil will also work closely with Nielsen’s data and measurement sciences to help strengthen the company’s competency in ethnic segment research.
