GLR acquires rights for Chivas de Guadalajara.

Grupo Latino de Radio (GLR) announced the acquisition of exclusive five-year radio broadcast rights to top Mexican soccer team Chivas de Guadalajara’s home games for the United States and Canada.

Starting this summer with Torneo de Apertura 2008 and until 2013, the games of Mexican soccer fans’ favorite team Chivas will be distributed exclusively by GLR Networks to its affiliated radio stations.

This is currently the only exclusive Mexican soccer league property in the US.

This acquisition reinforces GLR Networks’ coverage of Mexican 1st Division Soccer games, which also includes six other top teams: Pachuca, Cruz Azul, Morelia, Santos, Tecos and Puebla.

In making the announcement, Juan Pablo Alvarez, President and CEO for GLR in North America, stated, “We are proud to bring Chivas de Guadalajara’s games, the most exciting and traditional soccer team in Mexico, to its supporters and fans in the U.S.”.

Advertising and Sales Director Luis Gutierrez added: “Chivas de Guadalajara is a great brand with proven success, and clients want to associate their name with the team. Chivas de Guadalajara games will be aired in the Top 50 Hispanic markets, which means that our advertisers’ spots will reach 90.3 percent of the U.S. Hispanic population.”
