GolTV to air 2012 Brasilierão League.

GolTV will broadcast the upcoming Brasilierão season, kicking-off on May 19 with Sport Recife vs Flamengo at 5:30 p.m. ET. Featuring Brazil’s top 20 teams and top stars such as Neymar, Lucas, Liedson, and Ganso, the league has seen a resurgence as the booming Brazilian economy has allowed teams to retain many of the nation’s top players to play on home soil.

“This upcoming Brasileirão season is highly anticipated amongst GolTV’s viewers,” said Constantino Voulgaris, Executive Vice President of Programming and Business Development at GolTV. “Complimenting the play on the field, the network’s weekly highlights show, Foot Brasil, includes scores, news and analysis from Brasileirão, making GolTV the top destination for Brazilian soccer fans across North America.”

The largest and most important soccer championship in Brazil, each team in Brasileirão plays 38 games consisting of home and away matches against each opponent. A champion will be named in December, and the league’s bottom four teams will drop down to the Serie B classification, while the top 4 Serie B teams move up to Serie A. Brasileirão also affords fans the opportunity to witness the skills and tricks of Neymar who is tabbed the next Brazilian soccer superstar.

As all eyes turn to Brazil in advance of the 2014 World Cup, GolTV will not only air Brasileirão games, but Campeonato Paulista play and the next ten matches from the Brazilian national team’s Gillette World Tour.
