GolTV will telecast live high-definition coverage of the 2011 German Supercup between FC Borussia Dortmond and FC Schalke 04 on July 23rd at 2:30 p.m. ET.

“With their great performances both with the national team and on the club level, Germany has once again staked out a claim as one of the top soccer nations on the planet. The Supercup will deliver the high-intensity play that has made German soccer so popular around the globe”

Dortmund’s run last season was one of the most phenomenal in recent history as young coaching sensation Juergen Klopp had Borussia in front by double digits, clinching the crown with two games remaining. It was the seventh league crown in BVB history, equaling the haul of their arch rivals, Schalke 04 with their seventh German championship, behind only Bayern Munich and Nurnberg all time.

Schalke 04 also had reason to celebrate last season as they won their fifth German Cup title thanks to the high-flying attack led by the legendary Raul Gonzalez Blanco, of Real Madrid fame. Raul led the team in scoring in his first season in the Bundesliga.

“With their great performances both with the national team and on the club level, Germany has once again staked out a claim as one of the top soccer nations on the planet. The Supercup will deliver the high-intensity play that has made German soccer so popular around the globe,” said Rodrigo Lombello, COO of GolTV.

The German Supercup is an annual match that sets the champions of Germany’s top-flight Bundesliga against the winners of the German Cup.
