Grupo Latino de Radio reinforces its team.

GLR Networks announced Juan Pablo Alvarez is the new President & CEO for GLR in the US and Mexico. Mr. Alvarez has worked for Grupo Prisa (the media group owner of GLR) since 1990.
He started his career in the company as Director of Marketing for GDM in Spain. He came to the US in 2005 to work for GLR, the company in charge of the international radio assets of the media group.
Alvarez’s aim for this new stage of GLR Networks is to continue with its expansion in the US market, as well as to gain a stronger presence, by marking the difference with innovative programming.
Luis Gutierrez has joined GLR Networks as Director of Ad Sales for the thriving Spanish language broadcast group. He will oversee business development, sales strategy, sponsorships and advertising sales for GLR’s domestic and pan-regional sales efforts. Based in Miami, Gutierrez’s appointment is effective immediately.
Prior to joining GLR Networks, Gutierrez worked at Fox Sports en Español for six years as National Account Executive, developing more than 30 new national accounts.
In making the announcement, Juan Pablo Alvarez, GLR President for the US and Mexico, stated, “Luis brings both the keen skill of developing effective advertising relationships while offering the perspective from his experience with extensive clients. We believe he has the vision to immediately create new advertising opportunities for clients with GLR’s strong programming brands.”
Regarding his new relationship with GLR, Gutierrez noted, “GLR Radio Networks has the foundation to provide our clients with effective and immediate reach complementing great programming. I see advertising opportunities that extend beyond borders.”
Gutierrez’s most immediate initiative is rolling out GLR’s broadcast coverage of Futbol Mexicano, Sports and News/Talk programming.
Jimmy Perez is the new Director of Affiliate Sales and will be syndicating the network’s programming to U.S. Hispanic radio stations.
Perez brings over 14 years experience in the radio industry. He began his career as Production Director in 1992 with Entravision’s San Jose, CA stations KLOK/KBRG. He was promoted in 1994 to Asst. Program Director, responsible for all on-air talent, production & programming departments. After that, Perez worked for “Futbol de Primera”, where he was responsible for affiliate relations and the assembly of the radio network lineup.
Jimmy Perez came to Grupo Latino de Radio in January 2006 and is responsible for syndication of the Networks’ sports programming, which includes maintaining and coordinating aspects, such as programming and production. During these months, he has affiliated a significant number of radio stations across the United States showing his knowledge and experience in the US Hispanic Radio Industry.
Alejandro Nieto is the VP of Programming for GLR Networks since February 2005.
Nieto started his career 16 years ago in Colombia as a music radio show host. Then he directed several music radio stations until he arrived to Caracol Radio Network in Colombia. There he hosted a News and Talk show to later become the Network’s Programming Manager. When Caracol Radio Colombia was acquired by GLR, Nieto was transferred to the US to develop the Company’s business here.
Nieto has been key in GLR’s growth in this first year. In addition to News (51% of the market reach) and Sports (54%), GLR Networks has also experienced success with Entertainment programming such as Latitud 40 Latino with almost 40% market coverage, a program that takes listeners through a journey of top hits in Latin America each week.
