Access Licensing Group announced that it has been awarded the master licensing rights for the Gusanito characters in the U.S. territory.
“Gusanito has proven to be one of the most popular and successful social expression websites in Latin America, and we are thrilled to participate in the launch of these endearing characters in the U.S.” said David Gebel, VP of Licensing, Access Licensing Group.
Gusanito.com is one of the most visited e-greeting websites in Mexico, with 8 million monthly visits. The company boasts a series of flash-animated comedic shorts which can be sent as e-Cards, downloaded as wallpapers, incorporated into an online game, and watched on a weekly basis. The lovable characters depict social aspects of life, and quickly expanded to most of Latin America. Popular characters include a boy named Wero, a Girl named Wamba, an adorable cow named Cowco and a lovable Hippo called Wippo. Since then, Gusanito has built a worldwide fan base from over 150 countries, as well as a successful merchandise line.
Access Licensing Group will license, market and promote the merchandising rights for Gusanito across a variety of key product categories such as apparel, stationery, gifts and novelties, accessories, sporting goods, and toys and games ˆ available at retail in early 2009.
