HBC’s 2002 Billboard Latin Music Awards Broadcast.

Billboard magazine and Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation (HBC) announced a multi-year deal making HBC the official radio network of the Billboard Latin Music Awards Show. The Show, which caps a 3-day Conference and airs on Telemundo, will be simulcast on stations in the HBC Entertainment Network.

The Billboard Latin Music Conference, presented by Heineken, will be held May 7-9, 2002 at the Eden Roc Resort & Spa in Miami Beach. The Billboard Latin Music Awards Show will take place on May 9, 2002 at the Jackie Gleason Theater of the Performing Arts in Miami Beach.

HBC’s coverage of the hottest event in Latin music will include an exciting week of programming on the network’s 54 radio stations. A two-hour Finalists’ Music Special on May 6 will feature interviews with Award finalists and the music that launched them to the top of the Billboard charts. HBC will broadcast live from Conference events on May 7-9. Coverage will culminate with HBC’s red-carpet pre-show and simulcast of sizzling performances, celebrity appearances and winner announcements at the 2002 Billboard Latin Music Awards.

“We’re excited to be working with Billboard in bringing this event to Hispanic USA on HBC,” says Jack Hobbs, Senior Vice President and General Manager for HBC Radio Network. “HBC feels The Billboard Latin Music Awards is a winner. We look forward to working with Telemundo and Billboard to help produce a quality event.”

“We are thrilled to partner with HBC on this event and feel confident that they will help to significantly drive the awareness of the show and the artists,” says Howard Appelbaum, VP/ Licensing and Associate Publisher/Marketing for Billboard Music Group.

The only show of its kind, the Billboard Latin Music Awards is an annual event honoring the year’s biggest and brightest stars. Finalists for the awards ceremony are chosen based on their performances on Billboard’s Hot Latin Tracks and Top Latin Albums charts, which comprise radio airplay and sales. Past performers include Marc Anthony, Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin, Tito Puente, Shakira, Son By Four and many more.
