Heineken Sponsors The American Black Film Festival.

Heineken USA has signed on as a sponsor of the 2003 American Black Film Festival (ABFF), produced by Film Life, Inc. In it’s seventh year, the ABFF has become the premier networking event for Black filmmakers. The five-day ABFF will play host to over 2500 attendees in South Beach Miami from June 18-22, 2003. Past participants and honorees have included Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Morgan Freeman, Pam Grier, Debbie Allen, Suzanne De Passe, John Singleton and Robert Townsend.

This years festival will feature daily workshops for every actor, writer and filmmaker. There will also be a series of independent film screenings. As a new addition, the Heineken Green Room will be unveiled to provide adult ABFF participants with live entertainment and plenty of Heineken. For more information, log onto www.heinekenusa.com.

The ABFF has premiered a number of films that have subsequently received wider theatrical distribution. These include, One Week directed by Carl Seaton (Film Life), Crazy As Hell directed by and starring Eriq LaSalle and Hav Plenty (Miramax) directed by Christopher Scot Cherot. Last year’s award winning films were The Riff starring Antonia Fargas and Nia Peebles and Civil Brand directed by Emmy Award winner Neema Barnette.
