Heineken USA signs on as sponsor of US telecast of 2009 Caribbean World Series.

Heineken USA returns as the official beer sponsor of the only Spanish-language telecast of the Caribbean World Series in the U.S. exclusively on ESPN Deportes. Recognized as one of the most exciting sporting events of the year for Latino baseball fans, the 12-game series is scheduled to be played for the first time in Mexicali, Mexico from February 2 through February 7, 2009.
“Heineken’s sponsorship of the exclusive Spanish-language coverage of the Caribbean Baseball Series reinforces the brand’s commitment to our Hispanic consumers who are huge fans of the sport,” said Marime Riancho, Heineken Senior Brand Director, Multicultural Markets. “This telecast will offer baseball enthusiasts throughout the nation the opportunity to follow teams from Mexico, Venezuela, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico as they compete for the 2009 championships. Heineken is excited to be part of the experience.”
For the first time in its history, the Caribbean Series will be played in its totality in El Nido baseball stadium in Mexicali, Mexico. ESPN Deportes will offer exclusive Spanish-language coverage of the six-day tournament beginning with the opening game on Monday, February 2nd.
