Hidden cameras capture McDonald’s on the busy streets of NYC.

Ekeko Productions just shot a McDonald‚s Breakfast Menu spot for the Spanish-language New York region in New York City for the agency d expósito & partners.

Set in the busy streets of New York City, the :30 TV spot “Urban Decisions” captures the on point and witty exchange of two teenage boys as they meet up in the morning and review their numerous breakfast options as they walk through their neighborhood. After checking out delis, diners and street vendors our protagonists decide to go with McDonald‚s mainly because of its two sandwiches for three-dollar breakfast menu offer.

“We shot in the East Village area,” explained Pablo Villegas, Senior Art Director, “using hidden cameras and shooting from vans so the actors could interact in a completely spontaneous way”.

“Ekeko Productions understood the challenge of this spot and Leandro Ekman and Claudio Mankevich, who both worked with me when I was a director, know what it means to obtain perfection,” commented Jorge Ulla, Partner/Chief Ideation Officer of d expósito & partners.

“We were chosen to produce this spot because of our ability to strike a balance between capturing the spontaneity of New York City, the high production value we bring to the table and the edgy directors Ekeko Productions represents that made the use of hidden cameras possible,” said Leandro Ekman, Executive Producer of Ekeko Productions.

Yehudit Mam, Copywriter and the project Creative Director said, “We wanted to bring authenticity like that of the movie, Kids, to the spot and Ekeko Productions helped us capture it and produce a fresh piece of work.”

“Placing the actors on an open set was a risk but proved worthwhile,” added Ricardo Razuri, Broadcast Producer.

Speaking on behalf of McDonald’s, Verónica Payán-Gonzalez, Managing Partner of d expósito & partners said, “Given the current economic situation, McDonald‚s is very conscientious of the need to always offer consumers money-saving options and breakfast is a highly trafficked time.”
