HISPANIC FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME ESTABLISHED TO CELEBRATE HISPANIC EXCELLENCE

A historic milestone in the world of American football has been reached with the establishment of the Hispanic Football Hall of Fame (HFHOF), an organization dedicated to recognizing and honoring the extraordinary contributions of Hispanic players, coaches, and contributors at every level of the game.

The HFHOF will serve as a living tribute to the rich history, talent, and cultural impact of Hispanic people who have shaped the game of football, while also inspiring the next generation of players and fans.

Two football legends – Ron Rivera (of Puerto Rican ancestry), former NFL head coach, Super Bowl champion as a player, and two-time NFL Coach of the Year, and Anthony Muñoz (of Mexican ancestry), Pro Football Hall of Fame offensive lineman and widely regarded as one of the greatest to ever play the game – helped establish the HFHOF and serve as Founding Board Members.

“Football has always been a sport that unites people from all backgrounds,” said Ron Rivera. “The Hispanic Football Hall of Fame gives us an opportunity to tell the stories of incredible people who not only achieved greatness on the field, but also opened doors and inspired countless young people in our communities.”

“This Hall of Fame is about more than honoring the past – it’s about building a future,” said Anthony Muñoz. “I’m proud to help create a platform that recognizes Hispanic excellence in football and encourages future generations to chase their dreams, knowing that their heritage is a strength and part of what makes the game so powerful.”

In partnership with the National Football League (NFL), the Hispanic Football Hall of Fame will also host an International Flag Football Championship and football camps featuring the top Hispanic high school players from around the world.

“The Hispanic Football Hall of Fame reaches far beyond recognizing the accomplishments of Hispanic athletes, coaches, and leaders who have contributed so much to football’s growth and success, it is a promise of hope for future generations,” said Troy Vincent, Sr., NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations and HFHOF International Advisory Committee Member. “By honoring the pioneers and elevating the voices of Hispanic players, coaches, and leaders, we strengthen the game and inspire young people to see football as a place where they belong, where their heritage is valued, and where their dreams can thrive.”

The Hall of Fame will spotlight trailblazing Hispanic players and coaches, from the pioneers of earlier eras to today’s stars, preserving their stories through exhibits, events, and educational programs. Plans are underway to host the inaugural “Celebración de Fútbol” Induction Ceremony in spring 2026, marking the beginning of an annual tradition that will celebrate the enduring legacy of Hispanic contributions to football.

Inductees, along with the Pro, College, and High School Player of the Year Award recipients, will be selected annually by a prestigious committee of journalists and broadcasters, chaired by Sandy Núñez, NFL Network Vice President and HFHOF Board Member. Other Selection Committee members include Judy Battista, Rolando Cantú, Paul Gutierrez, Brandon Huffman, Moisés Linares, Alex Marvez, Armando Salguero, and John Sutcliffe.
