2006 HYP Network’s Vega Directorio en Español, launched the 21st edition for Northern Virginia at GALA Hispanic Theatre-Tivoli in Washington D.C. The directory’s cover features a reproduction of the winning entry of the second “Arte de America Hispana Contest” which ran from September 15th, 2005 through January 31st, 2006.This art competition promotes and celebrates the rich and diverse Hispanic Heritage throughout the Greater Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area. Local artists and art students 18 years and older, compete for a $3,000 grand prize by submitting original work that is the artist’s interpretation of Hispanic Heritage in our city.
A blue ribbon panel of judges consisting of 8 area dignitaries, local art galleries directors, directory’s clients and TV delegates selected the winning poster. Brenton Mulliner, HYP Network Regional Sales Director and General Sales Manager of VEGA Directorio en Español, Mario Sol, Evening News Anchor – Univision and Dayan Aldana, Morning Show Host – Mega Clasica presented the $3,000 award and commemorative plaque to Angela Lubinecky the local artist and winner of the competition.
“The judging process was a difficult task for all the judges who had to evaluate nineteen beautiful entries this year. “Floracion Hispana” is the name Angela Lubinecky chose for her painting, which looks impressive in the directory’s cover. We are also proud that VEGA Directorio en Español received the José Martí Publishing Awards for “Outstanding Yellow Pages” last March 31st from NAHP in Las Vegas. This is the fifth year in a row that VEGA Directorio en Español has been recognized as the best Spanish language Yellow Page directory in the country”, said Brenton Mulliner General Sales Manager.
