HispanicAd.com announces ‘THE JUDGES’ for 2008 Media Planning ‘Exelencia’ Awards.

HispanicAd.com and the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies (AHAA) are proud to announce the judges for the HispanicAd.com 2008 Media Planning Awards competition. The awards will be bestowed at the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agency (AHAA) Semi Annual Conference March 31 – April 2, 2009 at the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The judges for this year’s competition are:

Nelson Garcia – SVP Media Director at GlobalHue Media Group.

A well-rounded advertising professional, Nelson has held multicultural media management positions at top mainstream and leading specialty multicultural Advertising Agencies. During his career his work experience has also included client-side Corporate Media & Field Media Marketing responsibilities.

His multicultural clients have ranged from such mainstream advertisers such as Verizon, Chrysler, Volkswagen, Reckitt Benckiser, Amtrak, and Johnson & Johnson, to ethnic products such as La Costeña, Jumex, El Pico Coffee, Presidente Brandy, King Pine & Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, to name a few.

Nelson received his media training at 4A agencies on major blue-chip accounts (Kraft-General Foods, P&G, Coca-Cola Foods, and US Army).

Karen Treydte – – Media Planning Director at Casanava Pendrill Publicidad.

Karen joined Casanova Pendrill in 2007 to head up the media planning department. With both Hispanic and General Market experience, Karen combines strategic leadership with a creative approach to developing effective media solutions. Current clients include U.S. Army, Kohl’s, Crown Imports, California Lottery, General Mills and Nestle.

Prior to joining Casanova Pendrill, Karen led media operations across three offices for Conill Advertising, serving as their Executive Media Director. Karen managed both the media planning and buying departments whose work on behalf of Toyota, Lexus and T-Mobile consistently earned industry recognition and accolades.

Karen began working in the Hispanic market with Noble y Asociados where she supervised media planning on Procter & Gamble brands such as Pampers, Folgers, Crest, Bounty and Nyquil.

Karen’s general market experience includes media planning assignments at JWT/LA and AC&R/CCL. She began her media career as a broadcast buyer with FCB/LA working with clients such as Arco, Orion Pictures, Denny’s Restaurants, Albertson’s and Sunkist.

Caleb Windover – Senior Vice President/Managing Director, MV42°

With more than fifteen years of experience in U.S. Hispanic media, Caleb’s unique insights have helped shape the nation’s history of Hispanic media.
From the onset of Hispanic television ratings to the growth of Hispanic internet, Caleb has been a driving force in championing Hispanic targeted media plans and buys.

Caleb now brings his insights to Forty-Two Degrees at MediaVest (MV42°), the newest multicultural agency in the Starcom MediaVest Group network that focuses on consumer programs for Hispanic, African American, Asian and emerging market strategies. Elevated to Senior Vice President in September 2007, Caleb counsels clients including Wal-Mart, Heineken, Kraft and Procter & Gamble by sharing his understanding of what it takes to make captivating connections with multicultural consumers.

Prior to joining MV42° (then known as Tapestry New York), Caleb was Director of Media at Conill Advertising, developing communications plans crossing all traditional and non-traditional media for clients such as Procter & Gamble, Lexus, MetLife and Sunny D. He also led new business efforts on behalf of the agency. Additionally, Caleb was Media Director at SiboneyUSA Advertising, where he helped grow the agency’s billings with clients including Colgate-Palmolive, the United States Postal Service, Payless ShoeSource, Denny’s and Banco Popular.

Caleb started his career in Hispanic Media at Castor Advertising in 1992. Prior to becoming a Hispanic Media expert, Caleb worked as a general market media planner at both Bozell and Grey.
