November 13, 2005
The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) announced the premiere of the eighth season of Hispanics Today, its nationally syndicated television program. Hispanics Today is the first-ever national T.V. program that highlights issues impacting the Latino community and showcases contributions of Hispanic leaders and entrepreneurs in business, entertainment, politics, culture and sports.
“Hispanics Today has become the marquee communicator of the thriving and entrepreneurial Hispanic business community and we are delighted to see that interest and support for the show continues to grow,” said George Franco, USHCC Chairman of the Board. “Hispanics Today is the perfect vehicle to showcase the wealth and diversity of our business community, while providing valuable information that will take our leaders and entrepreneurs to the next level of success.”
“The growth of Hispanics Today over the last eight years is a reflection of the growing influence of the Hispanic business community in mainstream America, and the show has matured alongside the Hispanic business community,” said Michael L. Barrera, USHCC President and CEO. “Our new television season will focus on important legislative and economic issues that impact every aspect of Hispanic enterprise – such as immigration reform, improved access to technology, media and telecommunications, and tax reform – while continuing to showcase the energy and passion of our leaders and those that value our community.”
On the air since 1999 and a weekly series since 2001, Hispanics Today is broadcast to more than 86 percent of the Hispanic television households in the United States (reaching 26 million viewers in 30 states and the District of Columbia). Hispanics Today is viewed in 24 of the top 25 Hispanic markets in the U.S., including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, Las Vegas, Miami, Orlando, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Tampa, San Francisco and many others.
