The Home Depot Spanish-Language web site makeover.
October 17, 2008
The Home Depot announced the launch of its improved Spanish-language Web site. The new URL, espanol.homedepot.com, marks the first home improvement e-commerce site where Hispanics can access, browse and purchase products in-language from start to finish.
“Statistics continue to show that Hispanics embrace and enjoy shopping online. At espanol.homedepot.com, our customers will find the same quality products and guaranteed low prices that are offered in our stores,” said Lyne Castonguay, vice president of merchandising for The Home Depot. “By offering a comprehensive in-language online experience, The Home Depot wants to become the ultimate online destination for home improvement and give our Hispanic customers the confidence to make online purchases of our great brands and services.”
It is estimated that over one-half of online Hispanics are underserved by English-language sites, according to Forrester Research. Maintaining its long-standing commitment to the Hispanic community, The Home Depot underwent a complete online makeover to provide consumers who prefer Spanish with access to a comprehensive online shopping experience.
Espanol.homedepot.com will also offer valuable know-how information for home improvement projects as well as online specials and The Home Depot services. The internet is a preferred venue for Hispanics to research and access information, as they are more likely than non-Hispanics to research products online before shopping offline, reported Juniper Research.
By and large, Hispanic online use continues to grow. Adds Castonguay: “According to research, Hispanic online spending is expected to reach $21.6 billion by 2011, which is an impressive figure. We hope espanol.homedepot.com is well-received and inspires our Hispanic customers to shop us online as well as visit our stores.”
