Hoy Announces Expansion Plans For New York Market.
November 19, 2005
Hoy with daily editions in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, announced it will expand its reach to New York Hispanics by converting its daily New York publication to a controlled circulation model. Effective Jan. 23, 2006, Hoy will remove its cover price and distribute 60,000 copies free daily (Monday-Saturday) through retail locations, honor boxes and on-street hawkers. Hoy will also convert its existing Sunday edition into a weekend edition, available both Saturday and Sunday.
“Hoy decided to move to controlled circulation in New York after successfully converting its Chicago and Los Angeles editions in January 2005,” said Anibal Torres, Vice President and General Manager of Hoy New York. “Hoy has enjoyed double-digit readership growth in both of those markets. This new model makes Hoy more accessible to New York area Hispanics and addresses the needs of advertisers to reach a wider audience of responsive readers as cost-effectively as possible.”
With this change, Hoy’s national daily distribution will exceed 185,000 copies daily in the nation’s three largest markets – New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Hoy’s distribution is highly targeted, offering significant penetration of Hispanic readers in key ZIP codes.
