Hoy Goes Multimedia With Telemundo 47 In NYC.
January 10, 2003
Hoy and Telemundo 47/WNJU in New York, have entered into an agreement under which Hoy will produce segments for use by Telemundo 47’s Noticiero 47.
Under the agreement, Hoy will provide Telemundo 47 with segments in which Hoy staffers will discuss news stories they are covering, news headlines and features such as film and restaurant reviews. The segments will be taped in Hoy’s Manhattan newsroom.
“This agreement will allow Hoy to reach a broader audience and gives WNJU access to Hoy’s resources and expertise,” said Louis Sito, President, Publisher and CEO of Hoy. “It benefits both partners and allows each of us to better serve the Hispanic community in the metropolitan area.”
“At a time in the nation’s history when the Latino population has become so large, it’s vital that we do everything we can to help us get information to our community,” said Telemundo 47 news director Hugo Balta. “We view this agreement with Hoy as a first step in what will certainly be a great partnership in providing the best service to our viewers.”
Hoy will join a growing number of newspapers nationwide that have set up television cameras in their newsrooms as part of multi-media, content-sharing agreements with local TV news organizations. Newsday, which like Hoy is published by Tribune Company, has TV cameras in its Melville, Long Island, and Kew Gardens, Queens, newsrooms. Hoy’s camera will be located in its W. 31st St. newsroom. WNJU’s studio is located in Teterboro, NJ.
No start date was announced for the first Hoy-produced TV segment.
