December 18, 2004
According to Crain Communications Chicago Business Magazine, the Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan has filed lawsuits against two Florida-based credit card companies and their owners for deceiving the state’s Hispanic population into paying high fees to get cards that turned out to be good only for purchases from the firms’ own catalogues.
The suits allege Latin Card Plus, LLC and Pro Line Card LLC, both of Florida, aired television and radio advertisements on Hispanic stations claiming people did not need Social Security numbers or good credit history in order to obtain a card.
