ImpreMedia Newspapers lead again in Excellence Awards @ HAHP.

ImpreMedia, was the lead award recipient during the National Association of Hispanic Publications’ (NAHP) 21st Annual Conference garnering 25 awards. This year’s José Martí Awards for Excellence in Publishing, which represent the most prestigious Hispanic media awards in the nation, received 740 entries for six competitive categories.

ImpreMedia’s publications El Diario La Prensa in New York, La Opinión in Los Angeles and La Raza in Chicago dominated the NAHP awards by accepting 25 awards totaling 12 gold, seven silver and six bronze. El Diario La Prensa and La Opinión were recognized as Gold Award winners in the prominent Outstanding Dailies category and garnered the most awards compared to any other individual newspaper. Other award highlights included Gold Awards for: El Diario La Prensa and La Opinión for Outstanding Sports Section, La Opinión for Outstanding Entertainment Section, La Raza for Most Improved Publication and all three publications received key awards for Outstanding Design.

The NAHP awards, formerly known as the Hispanic Print Awards, have been revamped and renamed after José Martí, the renowned journalist, Cuban hero, poet and statesman. This is the first annual José Martí Awards for Excellence in Publishing. The six categories for the awards included: outstanding publications, outstanding sections, written word, design, photos and cartoons, and marketing.

“ImpreMedia is known for its commitment to quality journalism and its ability to create great content. The recognition by NAHP is further acknowledgment of our leading position in the industry and the premiere products that define our company,” said John Paton, CEO & Chairman of ImpreMedia.

Rossana Rosado, publisher and CEO of El Diario La Prensa said, “We are dedicated to educating and informing the Latino community and are truly honored that the National Association of Hispanic Publications has continually recognized our efforts over the years.”

Monica Lozano, publisher and CEO of La Opinión and Senior Vice President of ImpreMedia added, “As we continue to constantly evolve and improve to provide the highest quality publication for our readers, these awards represent a true testimony to our work.”

In the past year, ImpreMedia has received various awards recognizing their hard work, dedication and leadership in the Latino community. In February 2006, ImpreMedia received the Visionary Print Media Award at the Multicultural Media Expo. This award is presented to firms and individuals who have contributed to the advancement of business in multicultural media markets. La Opinión was recently recognized during the 2005 Paramount Pictures/Allied Advertising, Public Relations, Newspaper Media Promotion Contest at ShoWest for their promotion of Paramount Pictures’ “Yours, Mine and Ours.” This award recognized promotional campaigns created exclusively by newspaper contestants using creative elements which best promote a Paramount film without any creative input from sponsors.
