Interep opens new Rep Firm for Independent Hispanic Television Stations.

Interep announced that it has opened a new rep firm dedicated to the representation of independent Hispanic television stations.

Called Hispanic Independent Television Sales (HITS), the firm will help independent Hispanic stations capitalize on advertisers’ growing interest in reaching that burgeoning ethnic marketplace. HITS becomes the country’s first and only independently owned and operated Hispanic television sales representation firm.

Tom Marsillo has been named President of HITS, reporting to David Kennedy, CEO/Vice Chairman. In addition to his new role at HITS, Marsillo will continue to oversee Interep’s Azteca America Spot TV Sales as its president, a position he has held for two years.

“The Hispanic consumer market is growing by leaps and bounds,” Kennedy said. “Until now, the country’s independent Hispanic TV stations had little ability to aggressively go after their rightful share of the expanding advertising dollars earmarked for their target audience. By representing a network of independent stations, HITS will combine with Azteca America to provide a one-stop shop that presents advertisers with multiple options in key Hispanic markets.”

Marsillo said, “This is a tremendously exciting opportunity for Interep. The Hispanic market will continue to grow into the foreseeable future, and HITS will be in a position to help client stations capitalize on this expansion. HITS will be a natural extension of Azteca America, and we look forward to offering a broader array of options to Hispanic advertisers. ”

Marsillo said that HITS is in the process of negotiating representation deals with stations, with announcements anticipated in the coming weeks.
