J & J Launches National Hispanic Health & Wellness Program.

Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies, Inc. announces Vida Nuestra, a bilingual, interactive health tour, which will visit various cities across the U.S. to reach Hispanics with important health information. The tour will last through October visiting communities in California, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.

The tour will encompass an interactive exhibit that will appear at select Wal-Mart locations and major Hispanic events across the country. The exhibit will resemble a Placita, where visitors can walk through an imaginary “home” passing through each room to examine its contents, which will include health-related information.

Upon exiting the Placita, visitors enter the self-discovery area of the tour, where they can participate in numerous health assessments, including body mass index, diabetes risk assessment and blood pressure screening. As individuals conclude the Vida Nuestra experience, they receive a free custom bilingual health magazine with accompanying product samples and literature.

“We always strive to better serve the needs of Hispanic families,” said Rosalinda Markels, franchise director, Hispanic Business Unit at McNeil Consumer & Specialty Pharmaceuticals, a division of McNeil-PPC, Inc. “We realize there is a lack of bilingual health information available that reaches this audience and this tour is one of our latest initiatives to close the gap and help improve the lives of the Hispanic community.”

Dra. Aliza, a renowned medical professional and health educator who currently serves as host of her own radio show on Univision Radio, will make a special appearance at the San Antonio stop to interact with the community and stress the importance of healthy living.

“I am happy to support Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies, Inc. on such a beneficial initiative for our community,” said Aliza. ”I hope families will take advantage of this tour and seek out information that they can use to better care for themselves and their whole family.” Aliza adds, “Healthy parents have healthy children. It is important for parents to take a proactive approach regarding the well-being of their families, especially in guiding their children into becoming healthy adults. Through Vida Nuestra, families can access valuable information and take a step in the right direction towards improving their lives.”
