Joining together to record Spanish language version of ‘The Star Spangled Banner’.

As the United States Congress is set to resume debate this week on controversial immigration reform measures, Latin/Urban entertainment company UBO (Urban Box Office) has already begun bringing an all-star lineup of Latin music artists together to record “Nuestro Himno” (Our Hymn) – the first-ever Spanish-language recording of The Star Spangled Banner. With Spanish Radio DJ’s across the country already acting as a driving force in uniting the Latino community in its fight for immigration rights, UBO will provide “Nuestro Himno” as both an anthem for the cause and to bring an understanding of “The Star Spangled Banner” and the patriotic American ideals it represents to a broader Latino audience.

We chose to rerecord the Star Spangled Banner to show our solidarity with the Undocumented Immigrants, and their quest for basic civil rights, as well as to say thank you for their contribution to our comfort and our dreams. This uniquely passionate recording of the Star Spangled Banner represents us all, our freedoms and our precious democracy”. – UBO President/CEO Adam Kidron.

Produced by Eduardo Reyes and reflecting both Latin cultural heritage and young Hispanics’ adoption of contemporary American music, “Nuestro Himno” is a rhythmic Latin musical arrangement that still boasts the distinctive structure of “The Star Spangled Banner.”

“Nuestro Himno” already features Ivy Queen, Reik, Kalimba, Voz a Voz, Tito El Bambino, Frank Reyes, N’Klabe, Tony Sunshine, P-Star, Gloria Trevi, Yemaya and more. In addition, Luis Fonsi, Aventura, Chingo Bling, Obie Bermudez, Franco DeVita, Grupo Primavera and Stephanie Montiel are expected to record in the next few days. UBO continues to extend an open invitation of participation to Latin music artists and has approached or been approached by artists such as Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, Reyli, Victor Manuelle, Olga Tanon, Geremias, Frankie J. and many more. Artists are welcome to join recording sessions taking place this week in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Puerto Rico, Mexico City and Madrid.

“Nuestro Himno” is the planned lead track of the forthcoming UBO album Somos Americanos (We Are Americans). Set for release on May 16th, Somos Americanos will also feature a collection of classic Latin music recordings that have conveyed the Latino experience in The United States. Set to retail for only ten dollars, a portion of proceeds from Somos Americanos is set to benefit the efforts of pro-immigration organizations, including The National Capital Immigration Coalition in Washington DC -who has already committed to adopt “Nuestro Himno” as an anthem for use at all of its upcoming events.
