Jose Cuervo Searches For Undiscovered Latino Artists.
December 30, 2005
Jose Cuervo Tequila, the world’s largest Tequila company, along with Latin Hip Hop Mogul Chingo Bling and renowned DJ Tony Touch, announce their search for the next generation of Latino artists who will take Hispanic Urban music into the future. Known as Cuervotón, this collaborative effort and talent search will showcase new rising stars in the industry and help promote Latinos in the music business. Machete Records and Wu-Tang Latino Records have also signed on to assist with the Cuervotón movement.
“There are so many people who are hustling for the American Dream,” said Chingo Bling. “Someone coming from nothing and trying to get something. It’s a universal thing and that’s one thing I represent. Through the Cuervotón movement we will be able to give struggling Latino artists an opportunity to showcase their individual talents in this country.”
To announce this search, Chingo Bling and DJ Tony Touch will tour the country stopping in New York and Houston beginning in January. New York, Chicago, Houston and Phoenix will host Cuervotón events for three months also beginning in January leading up to semi-final concerts in those same cities in April. Eligible undiscovered Latino artists will be selected by DJ Tony Touch, Chingo Bling, Wu-Tang Latino and Machete record labels and other local judges after reviewing a CD submission.
One winner from each of the semi-finals in New York, Chicago, Houston and Phoenix will be invited to be the opening acts for a star studded final concert event in New York City on May 18, 2006. The final winner will have the opportunity to meet with executives of Wu-Tang Latino and Machete Records. This concert will be closed out by a performance by Chingo Bling and DJ Tony Touch who will continue to DJ into the night.
“As a Latin American company, Jose Cuervo recognizes the potential of Latino artists and the influences they have on today’s urban music,” said Bertha González, Commercial Director Jose Cuervo Portofolio in NA. “The Cuervotón movement will help solidify the future of Latino artists in the U.S. for generations to come.”
Cuervotón events will be promoted locally through radio promotions and online registration beginning January 23rd. Fans can log onto http://www.cuervoton.com to find more details and to register, or can listen to WKTU-FM in New York, KOVE-FM in Houston, KVVA-FM in Phoenix and WOJO-FM in Chicago to attend these events.
Jose Cuervo along with Chingo Bling, DJ Tony Touch and Machete and Wu-Tang Records are committed to furthering the Latino artist’s community and to drinking responsibly.
