Juanes YouthAIDS Ambassador.

YouthAIDS announced Colombian singer, songwriter and guitarist Juanes has accepted the role of YouthAIDS Ambassador. As a YouthAIDS Ambassador, Juanes will work to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS among the world’s youth.

Juanes joins current YouthAIDS Ambassadors Ashley Judd, Wynonna Judd and Josh Lucas in the fight against the world’s most deadly disease. “I am honored to work for such a worthy cause; we all must collaborate and do whatever we can to combat the AIDS pandemic,” said Juanes.

As YouthAIDS Ambassador, Juanes will actively participate in various programs developed by YouthAIDS to raise awareness about the need to prevent the pandemic from further escalating. Juanes will focus his efforts on Central and South America as well as the developing world. Along with other international rockstars, Juanes will promote and support YouthAIDS’s various campaigns, working to shatter the stigma and discrimination that exists against those afflicted with the disease.

“YouthAIDS is honored to have Juanes’ support in such a crucial area of the world, where the spread of HIV/AIDS is increasing rapidly,” said Kate Roberts, founder and director, YouthAIDS. “Juanes’ ambassadorship will help raise awareness among those most at-risk, youth between the ages of 15 to 24.”

YouthAIDS works to educate and raise awareness of the need to prevent the expansion of HIV/AIDS among world’s youth. YouthAIDS utilizes mediums like culture, music, theatre and sports to spread its message to more than 600 million people in 60 countries around the world.
