KMEX-TV’s ‘Grito’ is heard load & clear.

Monday night’s nationally televised “El Grito 2003” special, broadcast by Univision’s flagship station Univision 34 KMEX-TV, delivered one of the station’s highest audiences ever for this annual Mexican Independence Day program. According to final NSI overnight ratings results from September 15, KMEX-TV’s “El Grito 2003” posted a strong 6.0 NSI rating among all households in the Los Angeles DMA, regardless of language, up a whopping 122% from 2002’s 2.7 NSI rating. Other highlights include:
· “El Grito 2003”, which featured a stunning performance by Grammy Award-winning artist Pepe Aguilar to more than 22,000 spectators in attendance at the steps of City Hall in Downtown Los Angeles, outdelivered most general market stations in Los Angeles during its time period.
· In the U.S.’ largest Hispanic market, “El Grito 2003” was also the most watched program in Los Angeles during Primetime among Hispanic households. The program posted a 95% increase from last year, up from a 13.5 NHSI rating in 2002 to a 26.3 rating this year. KMEX-TV also outdelivered comparable programs on Spanish-language station KWHY by delivering five times the rating for its special and over seven times the rating for KAZA-TV’s special.
