KMEX Univision 34 wins PPAGLA 2009 Station of the Year.

Univision’s Los Angeles flagship station KMEX Univision 34 with its local news “Noticias 34” at 6:00 pm was the recipient the Station of the Year Award this past week by the Press Photographer’s Association of Greater Los Angeles (PPAGLA). This is the second consecutive year KMEX Univision 34 has received this honor.
In addition, KMEX Univision 34’s Art Quezada was also awarded the title of 2009’s Photographer of the Year. This marks the third time he has received the award. He also placed first in the following individual award categories: “Animal Story”, “Sports”, “In-Depth Story” and “General News”. Other first place honors were given to KMEX Univision 34’s Hector Gonzalez for “Fire Coverage” and Andres Bonilla for “Feature Story”. In total, KMEX Univision 34 received 14 PPAGLA honors.
According to the February 2010 NSI survey, KMEX’s “Noticias 34” (News 34) at 6:00 pm and 11:00 pm ranked as the #1 local early news and late local news programs among all key demographics (Adults 18-34, 18-49, and 25-54) surpassing all English-language news broadcasts.
