KVEA honored with Mark Twain Broadcast Journalism Award.

The Associated Press Television Radio Association of California, Nevada and Hawaii (APTRA) honored KVEA, Channel 52 with an award and a nomination for the 2007 Mark Twain Broadcast Journalism Awards. The results to the competition were announced after the judges, composed by a group of leading broadcast journalists from around the country, convened on Saturday, February 3 in Orange County, Los Angeles.
This year, KVEA Channel 52, won the Bill Stout Award for Station Spot News for its coverage of the May 1, 2006 “A Day Without an Immigrant” marches in “En Contexto,” a program hosted by renowned journalist Ruben Luengas. In addition, “En Contexto” was nominated for Best News Broadcast-30 minutes, the only Hispanic medium in this category. “En Contexto” airs from Monday to Friday at 11:00PM on KVEA, Telemundo 52.
The 2007 Mark Twain Awards, which honor excellence in broadcast journalism, will be given during two ceremonies at the APTRA Convention, which takes place March 2-4 at the Globe Theater in Universal Studios in Hollywood, CA.
