KWHY-YV in LA honored with Golden Mike.

KWHY, Channel 22 announced their victory during the 59th Annual Golden Mike Awards that took place this past Saturday at the Universal Sheraton Hotel. KWHY was awarded the Golden Mike by the Radio & Television News Association of Southern California for Best Special Report for their report “The Most Anti-Immigrant State,” a week long report that aired live from Arizona where a series of reports and interviews related to what many call the most anti-immigrant state of the country that were presented directed from Arizona.

“It’s an honor for KWHY, Channel 22 to be recognized by the Radio & Television News Association for our news efforts,” said Esteban Creste, Vice President of News for KWHY, Channel 22. “As a news station, we have a responsibility to report on all issues impacting our audience.”

The reports presented heart-wrenching testimonies of the faces of this phenomenon. The entire special was presented live from various locations between the Arizona and Mexico border, and with the participation of different local authorities. The special touched upon the human impact, as well as the measures that Arizona is taking to detain the undocumented immigration in addition to the economic impact of both sides of the border.
