La Agencia de Orcí Receives Imagen Award Three Years In A Row.

La Agencia de Orcí & Asociados was honored at the Imagen Foundation’s 18th Annual Imagen Awards Gala, a black-tie event held t the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. The Imagen (Spanish for “image”) Awards honor positive portrayals of Latinos and Latino cultures in the entertainment industries.

La Agencia de Orcí has now won this same award the last three years for their on going work for Verizon. The agency won the “Best On-Air Advertising” category for the Spanish-language television commercial titled “Library,” which the agency created in 2002 to introduce Verizon’s “Progress” brand image to U.S. Latino customers. The commercial was selected for the award because it realistically captures the essence of what “progress” means to Latinos and reflects the cultural nuances required when communicating to Latino audiences. The ad copy urges Latinos that it is possible to dream, create and advance (Sueña, crea, avanza. Es possible).

The Imagen Awards were hosted by Emmy Award winner Hector Elizondo and Grammy nominee Jaci Velasquez, star of the 20th Century Fox romantic comedy “Chasing Papi.” Some of the other Imagen Award recipients included Salma Hayek for Best Actress – Film (Frida); NYPD Blue – ABC for Best Primetime Drama Series – Television; and George Lopez – ABC for Best Primetime Comedy Series – Television. Imagen Awards were presented in 23 different categories.

Juan José Quintana, Senior Vice President, Executive Creative Director of La Agencia de Orcí & Asociados, accepted this year’s award on behalf of the agency.

“Winning the Imagen award for a third year in a row is a huge honor and recognizes the continued commitment both Verizon and La Agencia have in presenting the contemporary image of Latinos in the U.S.,” explains Quintana. “The concept in this ad of ‘progress’ is extremely powerful, yet sensitive, for many U.S. Latinos. Progress is the reason we come here to the United States – we leave behind family, friends and a country to achieve it.”
