La Colonia China In El Caribe.

The exhibition, Stories from La Colonia China begins to explore the Asian diaspora in the Americas and its connection the to African diasporic experience – a history that has yet to be fully told, recognized or documented. Artists Tomie Arai and Amelia Carling tell their personal stories and histories through a sampling of their works that includes an installation, paintings and book art. Further, it allows us to continue our work in discovering, rejoicing and emphasizing the common threads shared by people of color. Stories from La Colonia China, is another step toward exploring the Asian diaspora and its connection to Africa, the Caribbean, South and Central America.
