La Ley Tops ‘McDonald’s Fiesta Broadway’.

Internationally recognized Latin Billboard Chart topping artists will perform at the 16th Annual McDonald’s Fiesta Broadway set for May 1, 2005 in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. The now traditional Cinco de Mayo kick-off event will present Latin superstars including La Ley, Alicia Villareal, Jennifer Peña, Graciela Beltran, Rogelio Martinez, Yuri, JD Natasha, Mariachi Sol de Mexico, and Serralde, among many others. Known as the nation’s largest Cinco de Mayo celebration, the free, family-friendly event will run from 12 noon to 6 p.m. offering 36-blocks of non-stop activities, food and entertainment.
“Since its inception, McDonald’s Fiesta Broadway has celebrated the rich passion and cultural pride that is at the heart of the Hispanic community in Southern California,” said Frank Sanchez, local McDonald’s owner/operator. “McDonald’s has long respected and admired the Hispanic community for its commitment to family, education and preserving the rich cultural traditions that continue to positively impact our society as a whole.”
Mexican film and recording legend Antonio Aguilar will be honored at a special ceremony presenting him with the Fiesta Angel in recognition of his musical and acting career lifetime achievements. Aguilar is the only Mexican singer to have sold-out 12 consecutive days at Madison Square Garden in New York. Aguilar is also known for a successful acting career in both Mexico and Hollywood, acting with the likes of John Wayne and Rock Hudson.
Flor Silvestre, Aguilar’s wife and herself a legendary recording artist and actress, together with their Ranchera singer son Antonio Aguilar Jr., will also be present to perform a tribute.
Latin rock sensation La Ley, will also receive a special recognition in honor of their 15-year musical career. The Grammy-Award winning trio is widely regarded as one of the pillars of contemporary Latin Rock and Pop, and is making their first-ever appearance at Fiesta Broadway.
McDonald’s will host performances of amateur youth mariachi and ballet folklórico dance group winners of McDonald’s McMariachi y Folklórico Juvenil(TM) competition, which celebrates the Hispanic community through music by recognizing the most talented amateur youth mariachi and ballet folklórico dance groups in Southern California. More than 5,000 children have shared their love of traditional Mexican music and dance since McDonald’s McMariachi y Folklórico Juvenil debuted in 1999.
