‘La Mega’ celebrates Moonshadow’s return to ‘El Vacilón De La Mañana’ with $10,000 per hour giveaway

Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS) announced that after taking a year away from the radio airwaves, popular DJ Raymond “Moonshadow” Broussard is returning to “El Vacilón De La Mañana,” this Thursday January 17, with his usual flare and a host of new characters that will keep the audience laughing harder than ever before.

Hosted by Juan Carlos, Franky Jay, and “Los Mequetrefes” (“The Busybodies”), “El Vacilón de la Mañana” airs every Monday through Friday from 6:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. EST on WSKQ LA MEGA 97.9 FM in New York, WXDJ El Zol 95.7 FM in Miami and WZNT Zeta 93 FM in Puerto Rico.

“Moonshadow’s return to the airwaves is another step in the right direction for us as we work to maintain “El Vacilón’s” place as the highest rated Hispanic radio show in the United States,” said Frank Flores, Vice President of SBS Radio in New York. “We are all looking forward to seeing this talented team of DJs work together and to celebrate Moon’s return to El Vacilón we are giving away $10,000 an hour on that special day,” concluded.

Broussard was one of the first DJs to make shows “without controls” in the Puerto Rican radio market. For the past few months, however, Broussard has been dedicating his time to writing a book called “Spitting the Microphone,” in which he recounts some of his most outrageous stories.

“After working on my book and looking back on how much fun I had as a part of “El Vacilón,” I realized that it was time to return to my true calling: Radio,” said “Moonshadow.” ”I am extremely happy to be a part of such a “chévere” and brilliant team and to be working with my close friends Frankie Jay and Juan Carlos. I fully expect to bring my full array of “moon shadow” which will shine on the constellations of the airwaves.”

Broussard first joined “El Vacilón” in 2000. In 1977, after spending two years at a radio station in Ohio, he returned to Puerto Rico where he launched “El Gufeo Matutino,” which, for 22 years, was the number one morning show in Puerto Rico. During this time, he also worked for several television stations and also recorded commercials for major companies. He began his radio career first as a DJ for WOLA-FM in 1969, and then for a radio station owned by Bob Hope: WBMJ-AM Puerto Rico’s first rock and roll station which, despite its English format, became the number one radio station between 1972 and 1973.
