As part of the new approach from Volkswagen of America to push retail messages in a more aggressive manner, C.O.D, Volkswagen’s Hispanic AOR, took the initiative of communicating a new low price Passat message in a provocative and irreverent way.

In “The Fly”, C.O.D. took a common phrase in Spanish which is used when someone is awestruck about something and opens their mouth in pleasant surprise. People usually say: “En boca cerrada no entra mosca.”, translated – “Close your mouth or a fly might end up in it.” This, tied to the new Passat price, made for a fun, yet strong retail-driven spot.
