La Opinión – Hispanic Oustanding Daily @ National Association of Hispanic Publications.

For the second year in a row, the National Association of Hispanic Publications has chosen La Opinión as the Outstanding Hispanic Daily with a First Place award in the category. Miami, Florida’s El Nuevo Herald and New York’s Hoy tied for the second place spot.
The awards were announced at the NAHP’s 15th Annual Hispanic Print Awards. In addition to the Outstanding Hispanic Daily award, La Opinión also garnered first place for Outstanding Business Section as well as Outstanding Latin America- Cultural Article – for “Los Hijos del Hambre/The Sons of Hunger”. The article, written by Silvia Garnero, spotlighted the growing wave of starving children who daily scavenge for food in the streets of Buenos Aires.
This year La Opinión picked up a total of 27 awards in a wide range of categories. 11 First Place Awards went to the newspaper, along with 11 Second Place Awards and 6 Honorable Mentions. La Vibra, La Opinión’s weekly entertainment tabloid also received a First Place award for Outstanding Entertainment Section.
