La Opinión Launches Digital ‘E-boletines’.
September 9, 2001
In response to numerous user requests, La Opinión Digital, responsible for online ventures for La Opinión announced that it has launched e-boletines (email newsletters) a new service for its users and advertisers.
Visitors to laopinion.com are able to sign up for e-boletines through an easy to use interface, http://www.laopinion.com/boletines. Users can select from five different e-boletines according to their individual interest in order to receive the news they want directly in their inbox. Daily newsletters include: Titulares (Headlines) which offers a summary of headline news, Deportes (Sports) and Espectáculos (Entertainment). Weekly newsletters include: Tecnología/Negocios (Technology/Business), La Vibra, and Golazo (Soccer).
E-boletines are an opt-in form of email. This means that users have actively signed up for the email newsletter, demonstrating an interest in the content and a strong desire to open and read the email. For advertisers, this is an important distinction. According to a study released by IMT Strategies, September 2001, emails sent without permission are deleted 77% of the time versus only 2% for those who have opted to receive an email. “We have continuously added features and enhanced our content areas,” said Mary Zerafa, Director of New Media for La Opinión, “we are excited to offer this new useful feature to our users while at the same time providing an effective advertising vehicle for companies targeting US Hispanics.
