La Opinión, Staples & SBA – Exito Empresarial Seminars.

Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs in Los Angeles have long been under-served in terms of access to business management training. To address this issue, La Opinión has partnered with the Small Business Administration and Staples, Inc., to develop Exito Empresarial: Seminarios de Administración de Empresas (Business Success: Business Management Seminars).

Exito Empresarial is a series of business management training courses offering basic instruction in marketing, accounting, financial planning, and business plan development for small businesses. The Spanish-language courses will provide participants with the cornerstones of sound business management.

“This series of management training seminars is particularly important to the Spanish speaking community,” explains Alberto G. Alvarado, District Director for the Los Angeles office of the Small Business Administration. “There is a definite paucity of Spanish language business seminars in the Los Angeles area and these targeted sessions conducted in partnership by La Opinión, Staples and the SBA will most definitely fill that void.”

“Staples recognizes that starting a business can be a bumpy venture, especially if English is not a first language, says Ken Brooks, Regional Marketing Champion for Staples, Inc. “We want Hispanic business owners to utilize Staples as an important resource for their company. Staples is proud to be a partner in this series and wants these business owners to know that we’re here to help them.”

To ensure maximum access, the classes will be held throughout the Los Angeles area. Downtown Los Angeles, Van Nuys, Torrance and the City of Industry have been scheduled as seminar sites.

“It’s a hands-on extension of our twice a week Negocios/Business section which is geared toward small businesses,” said Monica Lozano, President of La Opinión. “It’s a synergistic partnership. The SBA contributes its’ small business acumen, Staples provides the sponsorship and La Opinión and Negocios is the link to our Hispanic business communities and to budding Hispanic entrepreneurs.”

The seminars will be held over a five-week period. Each series will be limited to 40 participants. At the end of the course, graduates will be awarded a certificate of completion from the SBA.
