La Opinión & Transit Television Network bring news on board Metro buses in LA.

La Opinión and Transit Television Network (Transit TV) announced a partnership to bring Spanish-language news on board nearly 2200 Metro buses in Los Angeles by this summer. Under the terms of the agreement, La Opinión becomes the exclusive Spanish language newspaper to provide television news feeds in Spanish to all 1750 Metro buses currently equipped with TV monitors in Los Angeles, ultimately reaching a half-million Metro riders daily, 67% of whom are Hispanics.

“Transit TV is pleased to be working with La Opinión, one of the most respected news organizations in Los Angeles, to offer Spanish-language news, sports and entertainment content to our riders,” said Gerry Noble, president and chief executive officer of Transit TV. “The screens on Metro vehicles in Los Angeles have been very positively received by riders and today’s announcement with La Opinión is another great example of our dedication to delivering compelling content.”

Warren Morse, Metro’s Deputy Executive Officer of Communications said, “Because more than half of our riders are Hispanic, we wanted to make sure the Spanish-language content on our new Transit TV system was of the highest quality possible. So we’re delighted to have La Opinión playing such a vital role in providing timely and entertaining information to our Spanish-speaking customers.”

The screens display 24 stories from La Opinión every day and consist of a mixture of local, national, and international news, sports and entertainment stories.

“What has always differentiated La Opinión is our commitment to serving the Hispanic community of Los Angeles with the best news coverage and journalistic quality,” said Monica Lozano, Publisher and CEO of La Opinión. “Today, we reinforce this commitment by satisfying the Hispanic community’s lifestyle demands by providing them with news in all possible ways, especially in a convenient manner. So whether on the road, on their way home, work or school, we keep LA Hispanics informed at all times.”
